Ski Day

This weekend we took the kids skiing at Winter Park. Sydney and Myles had gone once a few years ago, but don't remember it much, and it was Ryker's very first time. I am so proud of how they did! They each had a good attitude, lasted the whole day (and kept asking for more), didn't get discouraged, had fun, and made progress. Of course they were bone tired at the end of the day and a few meltdowns ensued, but overall, it was a very successful day! Myles and Ryker had to stick to the littlest hills, and will benefit from a lesson or two, but Sydney was able to move up to a slightly bigger hill and with some more practice will likely catch on just fine.

Gilby and I have loved to ski together for years (since we met!), but oh how things have changed with kids! We are thrilled to be able to share the experience with them, but it is a ton of work with three little ones. Thankfully my mom came with us as an extra set of hands. I thought she'd be more of a buffer if someone got tired, or needed to wait at the bottom for a turn to come up with Gilby and I, but from the very first time up the magic carpet she was hands-on helping to teach the kids, and went up and down all day long! We would not have had nearly as successful a day without her help (I actually don't even know how we would have managed it!) Thanks, Mom!

Looking forward to more ski days to come with this crew this spring and hopefully for many years to come!

What a way to get around the mountain!

Rockstar Grandma!

Ryker prefers to go straight down. "French fries, not pizza, Mom."

Sunny February

February is drawing to a close, but has been gracious to us with its AMAZING weather! We've had several days with temps in the 60s and even 70s, and lots of sun. It has called for bike riding!

Ryker was zipping around the cul-de-sac the other day and stopped to ask me, "MOM! Are you so excited that I'm winning?"

Sydney's Notes

Sydney is constantly working on a drawing, project, coloring page, or note. Her reading and writing is really starting to take off, and she loves to practice. She is very caring and always thinking of things to make for others. Here are a few of her most recent creations:

To Gilby she writes, "Sydney love Daddy. You or (are) so huasom (handsome). Love Daddy. You are the best Daddy."
And to me, "Sydney loves Mommy. You are so prite (pretty). I love you Mom."

Our sweet girl. She is such a blessing.

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day 2016

Daddy helped make the kids' valentine's boxes for their school parties. They turned out pretty great!

Myles and his school buddies. (We didn't get any pictures from Sydney's party, oops!)

Cousins!

Whew! 2016 has come in full speed ahead and brought with it some great changes for the Gilbert Family. One of the best is that shortly into the new year Cousin Raum and Aunt Siri moved to Denver!! We are very excited to have more family nearby and the kids are soaking in the extra cousin time. They have already had sleepovers, playdates, trips to the zoo and museum, movies, swimming fun, and more! During the first cousin sleepover at Grandma and Grandpa's house, Sydney said, "I can't believe we have a cousin who lives so close!," which sums up how excited we are to have them here.
